Initially I chose that name for three reasons: First and foremost it reminded me of a poem included in Chapter 9 of J.R.R Tolkien's "Lord Of The Rings":
Secondly it's also a part of the title to one of my favourite (Scandinavian) folk tales: East Of The Sun, West Of The Moon. You can read the full tale right HERE. Thirdly (and probably most obviously) it's also a phrase used in the title of A-Ha's 1990 album "East Of The Sun West Of The Moon",
whose title track IMHO is still one of the most beautiful pop-tastic songs ever written.

After the usual “shall I stay or shall I go routine” I arrived pretty late at the “Sommergarten” yesterday afternoon… but - and that was a real premiere - with an extraordinary amount of luck I managed to secure myself a place right in the front row (Magne-side… small wonder). But what did I forget to bring along? Ear-plugs! I know it sounds kind of inappropriate to bring ear-plugs to a concert, but two and a half hours of standing inf ront of a I-don’t-know-how-many-thousand-watt speaker system really is asking a bit too much of my tender ears. *lol* So if it wasn’t for that glorious security guy that took pittin us unprepared fangirls and supplied us with ear-protection I might have walked away deaf as a block. Anyway, the concert:it may not exactly live up to Trondheim proportions in my memory… but it was excellent nevertheless: the sound, the mood, the crowd…. the weather (yes!) - one word: beautiful. The setlist didn’t bring any new surprises: “East Of The Sun”, “How Sweet It Was” and “Lamb To The Slaughter” remained as the “odd” tracks. IMHO “East Of The Sun” felt more intense than it did at Trondheim, while and “Lamb To The Slaughter” was a little less thrilling. During “Hunting High And Low” there seemed to be some technical problems on stage, which didn’t derogate the mood of the song in any way though. I don’t know if it was just my own impression but during the first few songs Morten seemed to have (more than ususally) a quite hard time at warming up his voice…. he kept on “testing” his vocals in between songs repeatedly… looking not entirely satisfied. By the time the had reached “Summer Moved On” there was nothing to be heard of that anymore: I’m still in awe everytime I hear him singing that notorious “And there’s just one thing left to aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaask. Staaaay, don’t just walk way” live. His lungs truely have to be made of steel. *gg* Berlin, Berlin....August 31, 2006 — simone (Views: 567)The first day in berlin has been cold, grey and windy. But I’m moderately thankful that it has been quite dry so far: apart from a lit bit of drizzle yesterday afternoon there has been no rainfall. I’m still not feeling extremely enthusiatic about the a-ha concert due for this evening. But there you go: isn’t it always just the same with me?! By this time tomorrow I’m most likely “singing” a hymn of praise for the Mssrs Furuholmen, Harket and Waaktaar-Savoy. If only the temps where a little less “arctic” outside than they were yesterday night. I sitll don’t know if I’m really going to acutally start queuing for the concert already by three in the afternoon to be rewarded with a place in front-row. I might as well be content with a place in “midfield” and a few hours less of “sitting target, sitting waiting, anticipating: nothing.“ Random Photo
